Filipino cuisine gets a shout-out from Bloomberg in its list of food trends to watch for in 2017. The news agency based its prediction on the increasing number of restaurants that offer native Pinoy dishes in the States.

According to the list, some of the places worth checking out are Washington’s Bad Saint and Manhattan’s Mission Chinese Food. Another restaurant that is set to put Filipino food front and center next year is Rice & Gold, which will open in Manhattan late in the spring.

Hokkaido’s LeTAO Comes to Manila

Enjoy Hokkaido’s celebrated velvety cheesecakes as LeTAO opens two branches in Manila: One at the Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, and another in Greenbelt 5, Makati City.

Specializing in frozen “double cheesecakes,” LeTAO’s main draw is the Double Fromage, a two-layer structure composed of a rich, tasty baked cheesecake at the bottom and a creamy, smooth no-bake one on top.

McDonald’s Beefs Up Its Rice Meal Options With Mushroom Pepper Steak


McDonald’s offers a new way for customers to savor its juicy burger patties with the Mushroom Pepper Steak. This beefy goodness covers the patty in rich and creamy pepper mushroom sauce, and tops it with sliced button mushrooms. Enjoy it with rice and your choice of drink.

Cinnabon’s Carrie Fisher Tribute Backfires

As the world mourns the passing of Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, Cinnabon posted a Twitter tribute featuring an image of Princess Leia with a cinnamon roll as hair.


However, the tweet was not taken well in general, as Netizens called it “tacky” and in “poor taste.” The baked goods company has since deleted the post and issued an apology.
